Aloha Au Ia 'Oe: Honeymoon Day 3 Part 2!

Happy Sunday! 

The other half of day three was spent on Maui! We boarded a plane in the afternoon that literally went up and then came back down and we were on the beautiful island of Maui! The flight attendant was so nice and pointed out certain things on the island like the volcano and certain beaches.

Here we are in Maui!!

I grew up in a small farm town where chickens were only seen on farms- I had to add this picture because there are chickens everywhere you go in Hawaii! You can hear roosters crowing at all times- it was kind of neat! These chickens were sitting on a bench right outside the rental car pickup!!

Thanks to our honeymoon registry and our lovely guests we were able to upgrade our car to a ford mustang convertible- so worth it!! If you honeymoon in Hawaii upgrade to a convertible- it is lovely and well worth it to be able to see the gorgeous scenery!

When we upgraded we asked especially for a red ford mustang and the lady at the counter said we were in luck because they had just bought this car and we were the third drivers with only 1500 miles on it- basically brand new! Super fun!

Then we arrived at our hotel- The Whaler on Ka'anapali Beach! This was the nicest hotel- I loved it! It had a full kitchen with pots, pans, silverware... basically anything you needed to cook. So we took a trip to the grocery store and saved a little money by eating in once in a while- usually just breakfast and lunch on our gorgeous balcony that looked out onto the beach.

There was even a rainbow to greet us!

Then we walked right out of our hotel room and down to the beach- so fun!

This beach is known for its beauty, crystal clear waters, and the black rock- where divers and people jump into the ocean! We also saw a ton of turtles here!

Staying right on the beach saves a lot of hassle especially because you do not pay for the minimal parking that they provide!

And of course we had to play in the sand!

Some of the most gorgeous sunsets happen right here on our beach- make sure to go see them!

I was also surprised at the lack of tourists on Maui- or that is how it appeared. I was expecting our beach to be full of people and surprisingly it wasn't- another thing that makes Maui so great!

Aloha Au Ia 'Oe: Honeymoon Day 3!

Day 3! One of the reasons we stopped on Oahu was to go to Pearl Harbor- which if you go to Hawaii this is something you should see at least once. It was sad and very silent there as people remembered... It reminded me to be so grateful for our soldiers and the sacrifices they are making to keep us safe at home!

This is the U.S.S. Arizona memorial- the ship was sunk but they built this white memorial so you could look down on the sunken ship. Oil can still be seen coming from the ship.

After Pearl Harbor we had some time before our flight for Maui left so we headed out toward North Shore- where the huge waves roll in! This is the part of the island that is famous for surfing conditions! However, the whole time we were on the islands the waters were extremely calm which made for good swimming and snorkling but the surfers weren't happy!

Aloha Au Ia 'Oe: Honeymoon Day 2!

Happy Friday! Are you ready for some snorkeling?? Danny has been to Hawaii twice before me and his favorite thing by far was snorkeling and so I agreed to give it a try! He took me to Hanama Bay on Oahu which is a marine conservation area and underwater park. This was one of the best places to learn because it is shallow and you can swim very close to the reef without touching it!

Before we got in the water we set up a little spot on the beach- but these birds looked like they wanted our food!! We had to hide it! Neat birds though-they all had red heads!

We got there super early enough to see the beautiful sunrise!

Here I am trying snorkeling for the first time- I had a lot of fun and if you decide to go to Hawaii make sure to have someone with you who knows how to snorkel or take a quick lesson! The first time in the water is a little scary and learning to breathe through a tiny tube is hard but well worth it!

That night we went out to eat and walked our beach again- everything was so pretty!

Aloha Au Ia 'Oe: Honeymoon Day 1!

Wow! I cannot even begin to tell you how fabulous our honeymoon was, but I am going to try!! Hawaii is beyond amazing from the incredibly kind people to the spectacular views, everything was perfect! I could not believe how much of their culture has been retained and so in the spirit of Aloha I am entitling this series Aloha Au la 'Oe which means I love you- fitting for a honeymoon, right?

We had one day in between our wedding and our honeymoon in Hawaii which was so helpful since we had not packed at all... The wedding night was spent in the castle where some of our friends and family had decorated our room complete with rose petals on the bed-- gorgeous! (Thanks guys!) In the morning they served us a wonderful breakfast as we reminisced about the day before! Then we headed back to our apartment where we were greeted by a pile of gifts! We invited both of our families to come to a gift opening party- which was so fun!! Then we said our goodbyes and packed for Hawaii!

We headed out bright and early as it is about a 7 hour flight to Oahu. New sister Jenny drove us to the airport and took care of our dog Daisy for the week! She also took this picture curbside at the Omaha Airport! We made shirts that said Bride and Groom in our wedding colors!

We look exhausted-- but we were ready for paradise!

We had one short layover in Denver and then we were on to Honolulu!

The plane from Denver to Honolulu was decked out in Hawaiian leis and decorations! Even the flight attendants had leis and flowers in their hair!! I couldn't wait for our lei greeting on arrival!!

Here we are, right after our lei greeting!! If you go to Hawaii, you should definitely make sure to get a lei greeting. It was so fun and made us feel very welcome- it was also fun to see the sign the lady held,"Mr. & Mrs. Lambrecht!" Did I mention they smelled amazing- they filled our hotel room with this fragrance that I will never forget- they smelled so good!

Our hotel in Oahu was great! (Not as great as in Maui!) It was walking distance to the beach! Does this picture look familiar??

That first night we didn't have much time to do a lot but we took in the breathtaking sunset and strolled along the beach! We also walked around downtown and went to an old marketplace where there are tons of little shops set up with Hawaiian goods- We bought our first Christmas ornament here!!

I had to include this picture because this is the exact hotel where my mom and dad stayed on their honeymoon!!

Everything was just gorgeous!! More to come tomorrow- when I take you snorkeling!!  Aloha for now!

Sneak Peak!

Hello lovelies!! I am back and ready to start recapping but am waiting on our pictures from Anna, so in the mean time I am going to recap our fabulous honeymoon in Hawaii! I will have a post for you tomorrow but I have been dying to show you some preview images from Anna!!

I honestly cannot believe how fast everything went! We were engaged for 16 months and got married in one day! After speaking with many people and reading so many blogs I can truly say I took in every moment-- that was the best advice I could have ever been given and I am hoping to pass that advice on to all the upcoming brides!! Make yourself be present that day- don't just go through the motions. Take some moments by yourself to sort of recap in your mind, because you will not want to forget the love, the smiles, the memories!! The pictures will help but having a first hand account of your wedding day will make it that much more special!
That night my heart felt like it could burst because of all the love we as a couple felt from all of our guests- it was an incredible day and it felt like every one had a part to play. (That is what a wedding day should feel like!!)

Everything was perfect... just perfect!
